INERT WASTE
DEPOSIT.
The Association Mármol de Alicante with the support of the Novelda Town Council, has taken forward the project to restore an old gypsum quarry and transform it into the deposit of marble inputs.
From Monday 18 November 2013, all members of the Corredor del Mármol will have to dump their calcium carbonate waste at the La Morachel quarry in Novelda.
This is the first and only legal deposit for marble inert materials in the region, and according to the employers’ association, it has the capacity to store at least the non-polluting waste generated by the sector’s industry in Medio Vinalopó over the next three years.

Mármol de Alicante, Asociación de la Comunidad Valenciana prepares different types of reports and market studies, both those required to apply for subsidies and those specific to certain particular aspects at the request of its entrepreneurs.

Information on prevention and safety at work
SAFETY IS PARAMOUNT.
Mármol de Alicante, Asociación de la Comunidad Valenciana, together with the
trade unions U.G.T and CC.OO., created the Technical Commission for Prevention and
Safety at Work in charge of looking after the new needs in this area of the sector. The main objective of this Commission is to integrate prevention and safety at work complementing the work being carried out by companies.
Collective Bargaining Agreement
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT.
The Association ``Mármol de Alicante, Asociación de la Comunidad Valenciana",
together with the Trade Unions MCA-U.G.T.P.V. and FECOMA- CC.OO. P.V. have
constituted the Negotiating Committee of the Collective Agreement for the activity of
Marbles, Stones and Granites of the Province of Alicante. This commission is periodically
regulated according to the legislation, the negotiation of the salary tables and other labour demands, subscribing to the pertinent agreements for its implementation.
The current provincial Collective Bargaining Agreement for the Marble, Stone and Granite Industry was published in the Official Gazette of the Province of Alicante on 14 May 2013. The agreement was signed by the “Asociación de Empresarios de Mármoles,
Granitos y Piedras de la provincia de Alicante” and the trade unions Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) and Comisiones Obreras (CCOO).
Environmental information
ENVIRONMENTAL INFORMATION.
Aware of the importance of respecting the environment, Mármol de Alicante, Asociación de la Comunidad Valenciana, works to minimise the environmental impact during the quarrying, processing and disposal of inert natural stone waste.
The “Consorcio Vertedero” (Landfill Consortium) formed among the Association and the town councils of Novelda, Pinoso, Monforte del Cid, La Romana and La Algueña, was created with the aim of managing inert waste from marble quarrying. Research is also being carried out into the reuse of this clay, which contains almost all calcium carbonate.

ACTIVITIES
PROMOTIONAL.
The recognition and prestige of the companies associated with Mármol de Alicante, Asociación de la Comunidad Valenciana means that the Association is committed to making every effort to offer the best image and service for the benefit of the business group it represents.
To this end, the Association carries out
different and varied commercial strategies
and promotional activities aimed at helping
member companies to open up new
markets,
consolidate existing ones and improve their competitiveness.
The Association organises and participates in relevant trade fairs, trade missions and promotional activities. The main objective is to provide information about the associated companies, promote their products and provide a representative image.
MARBLE
DAY.
Monographic conferences with natural stone
as the main subject are held annually in Novelda and Pinoso.
The Association organises this promotional meeting mainly for specifiers (architects, quantity surveyors, engineers, decorators, etc.) with the aim of disseminating and promoting the use of this precious material in construction. The event brings together more than 400 people and is attended by local, regional and national authorities, as well as representatives of the media Among the events scheduled are visits to the
processing facilities in Novelda and Monforte del Cid, and to the extraction facilities in Pinoso, building personal connections with prescribers in the process.
INTERNATIONAL SYMPOSIUM ON MARBLE
AND STONE SCULPTURE.
The Association has been collaborating with Novelda Town Council in the celebration of this artistic event.
The aim of this biennial sculptural event is to offer a different vision from the usual use of marble and stone as natural resources, in which these prime materials become artistic elements. In this way, the purpose of promoting artistic work is achieved, and its celebration demonstrates that marble and natural stone continue to be relevant in creative work.
INTERNATIONAL TRADE MISSIONS.
With the aim of promoting the natural stone industry, the Association participates annually in a series of reverse and external trade missions to the most interesting markets of the sector.
Bearing in mind that a high percentage of natural stone production in the Valencian
Community is destined for export, this work is essential so that our product is known and
duly appreciated.
The Association directs its contacts to specifiers, while the companies contact importers and contractors, thus complementing the promotional and business work.
For the development of the different actions, the Association has the collaboration of IMPIVA, IVEX, the Chamber of Commerce of Alicante and the Provincial Council, as well as the Commercial Offices of Spanish Embassies.

NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIRS OF THE
SECTOR.
The Association participates in various national and international trade fairs with an information stand, from which promotional material is distributed and numerous new
contacts are made, exhibiting the products made by the associated companies. Technical seminars and events are also organised to present the Association to natural stone professionals, both at a national and international level.
